Next to the Ford Mustang, the Chevrolet Corvette was one of the iconic sports cars of the 1960s.  The C2 bodystyle built on the previous racing pedigree of the first generation, using a wind tunnel to help refine the final contours of the car.  Increased steel bracing made the chassis both stronger and lighter, thanks to a reduction in the thickness of the fiberglass body panels.  The 1964 model introduced variable-rate springs in the front suspension to improve ride quality without sacrificing handling.
