Hello! I’m Stephanie.
I’m an independent visual designer and web developer in California. My journey as an artist and designer has been ongoing for most of my life, but I started working professionally as a designer in 2012.
How I got started
While pursuing my degree at Santa Clara University, my passion for design grew into a steady side hustle. By the time I graduated, I’d been working for the university’s web team, completed a few internships as a web designer, and had a handful of regular freelance clients as well. Then, with my shiny new diploma in hand and a motivation to get my student loans paid off, I… promptly learned that working freelance full-time is challenging on a good day. Also doesn’t pay the bills terribly well, for a fresh-faced grad.
I shifted my focus to gaining more experience in both design and business, and I’ve been fortunate to work at a wide variety of companies since then. I’ve done everything from designing aftermarket performance car parts to web development for West Marine. If you’d like to learn more about my career journey, you can do that on my LinkedIn page.
What I can offer
I focus my designs on:
- Solving real-world needs that don’t have a widely available or affordable solution
- Making accessibility devices and tools
- Using new and innovative techniques and materials
My motivation to produce clean, minimalist, and user-centric visual design has translated directly into my web development work. I’m happy to say I have an excellent track record with my customers for quality and ingenuity.
Where I’m going
After spending over ten years gradually moving from visual design to web development, I’m excited to build my skills as a programmer. I’m currently working on several web applications, and I’m also learning how to build iOS apps. I hope to bring a user-focused design mentality to my apps by building intuitive and usable interfaces.

Cool stuff about me
In no particular order, here are a few fun facts, claims to fame, and other cool stuff about me:
- I got to see the STS-130 Space Shuttle launch in 2010. This was the last nighttime launch of the space shuttle program.
- In 2009, I helped run a VEX Robotics demonstration booth during the 40th Anniversary celebration of the Apollo 11 Splashdown on the USS Hornet.
- I play the cello.
- My high school’s orchestra, concert band, and color guard went on a concert tour of Italy in 2010 – and conveniently got stranded when a volcano in Iceland erupted while we were mid-flight on our way to Munich to catch our connecting flight home. Several of us decided to pass the time in the Munich airport before we left for a hotel by playing Pachelbel’s Canon in D at Baggage Check. We got on Deutsche Welle!
- I built the first iteration of the Naval Postgraduate School’s distance learning catalog.
- I use a wheelchair and cane on the days when my chronic illness makes it difficult or unsafe to walk. My wheelchair is made of aircraft-grade titanium, and my cane is made of carbon fiber!
- My Corvette vector painting won an Honorable Mention in the Monterey County Fair.
- I designed the highly successful and effective SakeBomb Garage Competition Electric Water Pump Kit for the Mazda FD3S RX-7.
