I designed this link in bio landing page for use on my various social media accounts. It acts as a centralized portal to all of my ecommerce channels, other social media profiles, and various online portfolios.
I originally used a Linktree page, but as a professional web designer, I felt that my links page is a perfect place to showcase my skills. Rather than pay for a third-party service that doesn’t have all the features I want, I built my own.

Why I built my own link in bio page
While my Linktree page satisfied all the basic needs, my free account didn’t have a few more advanced features available:
- Easily customizable layout
- Customizable button types
- Button groups
- Featured Products button type
I’m more than happy to pay for services if they give me equivalent value in return, but I couldn’t justify it in this case. I could just as easily make my own custom page with all the features I need, with significantly more creative freedom.
My links page is also many visitors’ first interaction with a live example of my work, so I need it to effectively represent my brand and methodology.
Designing for mobile users
The overwhelming majority of people following social media bio links are on their phones. As a result, any links page needs to look good and work well on mobile devices. I designed my page first for mobile screen sizes, and only once I was happy with it did I scale it up for desktop experiences.
Google Analytics consistently shows that the majority of users that visit my links page have screen resolutions seen on mobile devices.
Changes over time
I regularly update my link-in-bio page whenever anything changes. Over time, I have:
- Added more social media channel icons
- Added my Ko-fi and Patreon buttons
- Added a floating Ko-fi widget in the bottom left
- Added a Featured Products section with new releases and best sellers
- Added more sales channels (“Shops”)
- Removed Featured Products when analytics showed it had a low click-through rate
- Removed social media channel icons as I learned which platforms are most effective for my audience
- Added 3D printing model databases, to showcase my 3D design work
- Updated the button layout to be two-column on mobile devices
- Added the Featured Products section back in with just a grid of images, more like an Instagram feed
Because this is hosted through GitHub pages, any time I commit changes to the repo, it publishes to the live site within a few minutes. This gives me a high degree of control, and allows me to make updates as needed.
